What is Abjad Numerology?
Abjad is an ancient Arabic numerological system where each letter of the Arabic alphabet is assigned a specific numerical value. This system has been used for centuries in Islamic tradition for various purposes including manuscript dating, encryption, and spiritual calculations.
The Abjad system originates from the Semitic letter order and has been preserved in Arabic culture as a method of representing numbers through letters. Scholars, poets, and mathematicians throughout Islamic history have utilized these letter-number correspondences in their work.
The word "Abjad" (أبجد) itself comes from the first four letters of the traditional Arabic alphabet sequence: Alif, Ba, Jim, Dal.
Available Calculation Methods
Our calculator supports multiple Abjad calculation systems used in different contexts and traditions:
- Standard Abjad: The classical system following traditional letter-number assignments
- Kabir Method: Uses expanded values for specific calculations
- Small (Saghir) Method: Reduces values to single digits for simplified analysis
- Wusta Method: A middle-range calculation approach used in specific traditions
Each method serves different purposes in Islamic numerology and may be preferred depending on the type of calculation or analysis being performed.
